Modern nudism began in Germany and France. A nudist resort city on the Mediterranean, Cap d' Agde, now exists in France. Nudity in general has become acceptable in Denmark and The Netherlands. There have been many public nudist activities in both countries. All but two of Denmark's beaches are clothing optional. Naturism / Nudism is widely accepted and often the norm in Eastern Europe and Southern France.

The Naturist Society was formed in America to provide information and support for naturist and nudist groups in the country. The Naturist Action Committee is a monitoring and support group that supports the rights of nudists and naturists nationwide. One of its goals is to protect our rights from the closed and narrow minded fanatics that do not understand the theory of our lifestyle.

The Helios Natura Videos focus primarily on the FKK (Free Body Culture Society) of the Czech Republic, while the Synetech and Mike Herring videos focus primarily on France. For those of us, who are not privy to participation in such a culture, the absence of clothing is the most striking aspect of this culture. However, as the viewer gets to know the Naturists / Nudists presented in these videos, their state of dress or undress fades into the background and the warm sense of community overwhelms.
